THE CHALLENGE: A Market Leader Being Overtaken Technically

Toolnation had built a strong market position, a wide range, competitive prices, its own brand line, and a growing international presence. However, the underlying Magento platform could no longer keep up with that growth. The frontend was heavy and slow, the international multi-store setup became increasingly complex to manage, and performance scores were far below the level expected by a professional audience. Craftsmen looking quickly for a spare part or machine have no patience for a slow webshop.

Critically low Core Web Vitals scores (~60) caused high bounce rates and loss of organic traffic

THE SOLUTION: Full Hyvä Migration and a DevOps Contract for Continuous Stability

Younify completely redeveloped Toolnation’s webshop based on Magento 2 with the Hyvä theme, delivered in October 2025. Parallel to the technical rebuild, a full DevOps contract was implemented, through which Younify continuously monitors the servers, application, and infrastructure, proactively, 24/7, with automated alerts for every critical component.

Hyvä Implementation and Performance Optimization

The entire frontend was rebuilt from the ground up with Hyvä. The result was immediately visible: Core Web Vitals rose from ~60 to 90+, loading times were reduced to under 1 second, and the Time-to-Interactive on both desktop and mobile improved drastically.

International Multi-store Architecture

The multi-store setup for several European countries was streamlined and redesigned from a single scalable Magento platform, with clean store views per market, proper language support, and centralized product management without double administrative burden.

Catalog and Search Optimization

The extensive range was restructured with improved categorization, brand navigation, and advanced filter options, so that both consumers and professional buyers can find the right tool or machine very quickly.

B2B Functionality and Business Portal

A full-fledged B2B environment was set up for the business customer base, featuring business ordering on account, customer groups, and an account portal that aligns with the procurement processes of professional users.

SEO Architecture and Technical Findability

Technical SEO was structurally included in the build: clean URL structure, optimized category and brand pages, schema markup, and a content strategy that structurally increases organic traffic from the professional target group.

DevOps: Proactive Monitoring and Zero-downtime Deployments

After the launch, Younify implemented a full DevOps contract. All critical systems are monitored in real-time via the internal DevOps dashboard: server performance, database availability, Redis, Varnish, Elasticsearch, cron jobs, and more. Alerts are automatically delivered via email, push notifications, and the dedicated channel, including business-critical monitoring of order flow and checkout availability. Deployments are carried out via a custom-configured Hypernode Deployer script with automatic detection of database changes, ensuring releases take place in a controlled manner with minimal downtime.
